CTS EVENTIM Awarded Ticketing Contract for the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship

Partners reach a full-service agreement

Experience, technology and marketing strengths were the decisive factors

Bremen, 7th May 2014. The organising committee of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Germany and France has opted for CTS EVENTIM as its official ticketing partner. Europe’s market leader will be responsible for the entire ticketing administration at the summit meeting of the 16 best ice hockey nations, due to take place in Paris and Cologne in 2017. The World Championship will be staged at the LANXESS arena (18,500 seats) and Palais Omnisports Bercy (15,000 seats). The tournament, in which 64 matches are planned from 5th – 21st May 2017, has a gross capacity of around 1 million spectator seats.

Following the recent success at the Sochi Winter Olympics, this contract confirms CTS EVENTIM’s recognised expertise for major, international sporting events once more. Franz Reindl, General Secretary and CEO of the Organising Committee pointed out: “Ticketing is a key factor for success at the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. With EVENTIM, we have chosen the right partner to make the tournament a spectator success“. Eric Ropert, Deputy General Secretary and Managing Director of the ‘Fédération Française de Hockey sur Glace’ (FFHG) added: “EVENTIM won us over with their powerful technological tools, combined with considerable marketing expertise and international experience”. And Alexander Ruoff, Chief Operating Officer of CTS EVENTIM, explained: “We’ve agreed on a comprehensive full-service contract with the World Championship Organising Committee and will be marketing the tickets internationally, involving our EVENTIM companies“. Ticket presales are due to start in autumn 2015.

About 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Champship
Under the motto "Ensemble pour 2017" ("Together for 2017") Germany (Cologne) and France (Paris) have been appointed by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) for the first time in history to host the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship together. The event will take place from May 05 till May 21 of 2017, featuring 64 games of world class ice hockey, out of which 34 games incl. the final shall be played in Cologne's Lanxess arena and 30 games shall be played in Paris, Palais Omnisports Bercy.
