Munich, 10. August 2012. Yesterday, CTS EVENTIM AG, listed in the SDAX index (ISIN DE0005470306), signed the contract to acquire Arena Management GmbH (AMG) which is the operator of Lanxess Arena in Cologne. Acquiring entity is Arena Holding GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of CTS EVENTIM. The acquisition enables CTS EVENTIM AG to establish its operations in the metropolitan area of Cologne, which covers a catchment area of more than 20m inhabitants within a 100km radius. Completion of the transaction is still subject to antitrust clearance in Germany.
Owned by a real-estate fund, Lanxess Arena is one of the biggest and most successful venues globally with capacity of up to 20,000 seats and up to 1.8m visitors annually. Scores of concerts (i.e. Madonna, Udo Lindenberg and Lady Gaga), well-known TV productions (i.e. Germany’s Next Top Model) as well as family entertainment and comedy shows are hosted in the venue. Furthermore, Lanxess arena is home of the Bundesliga ice hockey team KEC Kölner Haie and a preferred venue for stock-listed companies to host their AGM like Deutsche Telekom AG and Lanxess AG, which is the holder of the naming rights since 2008.
