Munich, 9 November 2018. CTS EVENTIM has set a new record with the onsale for the European tour of rock band Rammstein. For the first time in its history, Europe’s leading ticketing and live entertainment company sold more than 800,000 tickets for a single tour shortly after the start of the onsale.
Demand significantly exceeded the ticket contingent available. All ten German concerts were sold out within a few hours. In the first hour, more than one million users permanently accessed EVENTIM’S portals, triggering peak rates of 80,000 system requests per second. This presented the booking system with special challenges.
Between May and August 2019, Rammstein will go on their first stadium tour ever. Organised by their long-time promoter MCT, it will see the band performing 30 concerts in 24 cities and 17 countries. In most territories, CTS EVENTIM is Rammstein’s exclusive ticketing partner, while selling tickets for every one of the 30 concerts. CTS EVENTIM also implemented a number of special solutions especially for Rammstein’s onsale:
The worldwide pre-sale for fan club members, which has been a standard for Rammstein’s presales ever since, was processed on CTS EVENTIM’s systems. To systematically contain commercial resale of tickets on the secondary market, in many countries each ticket is personalised individually. Rammstein have been leading the way in personalizing tickets and, in collaboration with their management and MCT, have taken action accordingly in the past. Returning tickets in accordance with the terms and conditions of MCT (e.g. in case of illness) will be made possible using EVENTIM’s own secondary platform fanSALE. In addition, country-specific quantity limitations apply for each buyer.
Alexander Ruoff, COO of CTS EVENTIM, commented that ‘When a band sells such an outstanding amount of tickets in such a short time, it shows both their exceptional artistic status and the unbroken attraction of live music. We thank Rammstein, Scumeck Sabottka, and MCT for their trust in our work.’
