Berlin, 26. January 2015 – Europe’s leading ticketing services provider, CTS EVENTIM AG & Co KGaA, continues to operate the Waldbuehne Berlin. The SDAX listed Bremen based company has executed a new long term lease agreement with the federal state of Berlin.
CTS EVENTIM had taken over the Waldbuehne in 2009 and set the target to significantly increase event and attendance numbers in Europe’s most beautiful open air theatre. The mission was successfully accomplished, and today the Waldbuehne is the first choice venue for many leading artists. With its variety of events and unique scenery, the Waldbuehne has ranked high in various awards and according to Pollstar magazine once more was the leading amphitheatre venue in Europe in 2014.
After the record breaking 2013 season, 2014 was again very successful with total attendance number topping 200,000. For 2015, a diverse event roster has already been announced. Herbert Groenemeyer will play the Waldbuehne two nights as part of his "Dauernd Jetzt" Tour, followed by artists like David Garrett and Andrea Berg, legendary eastGerman band Karat, the traditional end of season concert of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra directed by Sir Simon Rattle with Lang Lang on piano, and many more. A regular Waldbuehne guest for many years, Daniel Barenboim and his West Eastern Divan Orchestra will also perform once again in 2015. Further highlights are in the pipeline and will be announced shortly.
Rainer Appel, Senior Vice President at CTS EVENTIM: „We are very happy our commitment to this exceptional venue is paying rewards and we can continue to operate the Waldbuehne Berlin. Our thanks go to Berlin for the trust and confidence they place in us, and of course to all of the artists, promoters and spectators of the Waldbuehne.“
